Bodrum sits at the southwestern tip of the Bodrum peninsula on the Turkish Aegean coast 290 kilometres south of Izmir, with a permanent population of 175,000 across the 650-square-kilometre Bodrum district and a summer population that climbs above 1.2 million across the peninsula by mid-August. The day-charter calendar runs April to October with the peak from late June to mid-September. A 22-metre crewed gulet for an 8-hour Karaada and Orak rotation in July runs $2,500 to $4,200 plus the 18% Turkish VAT, fuel, gratuity, and marina day-stop fees. The day-charter inventory operates from five bases: D-Marin Yalikavak on the Yalikavak peninsula 18 kilometres northwest of Bodrum town (canonical superyacht concentration), Bodrum Marina at the Bodrum town harbour (full inventory pool), Bodrum Cruise Port at the Bodrum town main quay (gulet aggregator), Turgutreis Marina at the Turgutreis southwest (west-coast pattern), and Gumusluk small harbour at the Gumusluk west tip (small day-boat pool). Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) handles the air access with the canonical 30 to 60 minute road transfer to D-Marin Yalikavak, Bodrum Marina, or Turgutreis.

The point of a Bodrum day charter on a 7 to 9 hour rotation is the Karaada and Orak south-axis cluster (the 4 to 12 nautical mile southeast cruise to Karaada island with the hot-spring sea-cave entry and the Orak island swim anchor at the sand-bottom turquoise pool), the Black Island and Cleopatra Beach east-axis cluster (the 8 to 14 nautical mile east cruise with the sand swim anchor at Sedir island), the Akyarlar and Bagla south-coast cluster (the 8 to 18 nautical mile southwest cruise to the west-peninsula sand beaches), the Pabuc Burnu and Cokertme southeast extension (the 18 to 28 nautical mile southeast crossing to the Gokova gulf entry), and the Greek-island Kos extension (the 11 to 20 nautical mile west crossing to Kos with the customs clearance).

The day-charter pattern combines a 10am to 10:30am Yalikavak, Bodrum, or Turgutreis departure, a 30 to 75 minute cruise to the Orak, Karaada, or Black Island first anchor, a 5 to 6 hour anchor and lunch sequence (typically the Orak swim anchor, the Karaada hot-spring stop, and a Cokertme or Black Island lunch), and a 6pm to 7pm departure-base return.

When to day-charter Bodrum

April. Shoulder. Water 17 to 19 degrees Celsius, air 19 to 23. Working operators open inventory from 1 April with the canonical Aegean-spring opening pattern at 50 to 65 percent of August peak rates. The cleanest April booking pattern with the 1 to 4-boat Orak calendar.

May. Shoulder. Water 18 to 21 degrees, air 21 to 26. Rates climb to 60 to 75 percent of August peak. The cleanest May booking is the second-half-of-May window at the warmer-water and cleaner-light calendar.

June. Shoulder through 15 June, peak thereafter. Water 21 to 23 degrees, air 24 to 29. Rates from 65 to 85 percent of August peak. From 20 June the Aegean peak calendar opens with rates climbing into the 90s.

July and August. Peak. Water 23 to 26 degrees, air 28 to 34. The canonical Bodrum peak window with the Meltemi northwest-wind pattern (the 15 to 30 knot afternoon Meltemi, comparable to the Cyclades Meltemi but typically 5 knots lighter on the lee Bodrum south coast). The Turkish, Russian, German, and Gulf-state holiday calendar absorbs the Bodrum day-charter market alongside the Yalikavak and Bodrum nightlife pattern. Rates at 95 to 100 percent of peak through 31 August. Book 8 to 14 weeks out for the premium 65-foot-and-up gulet and motor inventory at D-Marin Yalikavak.

September. Peak through 10 September, shoulder thereafter. Water 23 to 25 degrees, air 26 to 31. The cleanest Bodrum window: the post-15 September pattern with the warmest sea-temperature calendar, the lighter Meltemi pattern, the cleaner Orak and Karaada anchor pool, and the cleaner Greek-island Kos extension booking window.

October. Shoulder. Water 21 to 24 degrees, air 21 to 26. Working off-peak rates at 50 to 65 percent of August peak. Operators wind down 31 October. The Lodos south wind runs more frequent from mid-October.

November to March. Working off-peak. The Bodrum day-charter inventory does not operate through winter; D-Marin Yalikavak and Bodrum Marina run at the sheltered-day pattern only.

The Bodrum day-charter zones

Karaada and Orak south-axis cluster (the canonical Bodrum day-charter axis). The 4 to 12 nautical mile southeast cruise from Bodrum town. The Karaada hot-spring sea-cave at the Karaada southeast (the tender entry into the warm-water sulphurous spring at the sea-cave mouth at depths 2 to 4 metres), the Karaada Buyuk Liman swim anchor at the Karaada north (the sheltered swim anchor at depths 5 to 12 metres), and the Orak island anchor cluster at the Orak west (the sand-bottom turquoise swim pool at depths 4 to 8 metres on the lee side, with the east-side rocky-coast snorkel anchor). The canonical Bodrum day-charter cluster.

Black Island and Cleopatra Beach east-axis cluster. The 8 to 14 nautical mile east cruise to the Sedir island cluster. The Cleopatra Beach swim anchor at the Sedir north (the sand-and-shell beach with the Roman-amphitheatre archaeological-site landing fee at $5 per guest). The alternative day pattern from Bodrum Marina or the Cokertme overnight pattern.

Akyarlar and Bagla south-coast cluster. The 8 to 18 nautical mile southwest cruise to the Bodrum peninsula south coast. The Akyarlar sand-beach anchor at the peninsula southwest tip, the Bagla beach anchor at the Akyarlar east, and the Karaincir beach anchor. The alternative day pattern from D-Marin Yalikavak, Turgutreis, or Bodrum Marina.

Pabuc Burnu and Cokertme (Gokova gulf entry, full-day extension). The 18 to 28 nautical mile southeast crossing into the Gokova gulf. The Pabuc Burnu peninsula anchor at the Gokova gulf entry (the sheltered north-side anchor at depths 4 to 12 metres), the Cokertme village stop at the Cokertme harbour (with the sheltered village quay and the land-based konoba lunch pattern), and the Yedi Adalari (Seven Islands) anchor cluster at the Cokertme east. The full-day Gokova entry from Bodrum on the 50-foot-and-up motor and gulet inventory.

Greek-island Kos extension (long-day, customs). The 11 to 20 nautical mile west crossing to Kos. The Kos town harbour stop at the Kos northeast and the Kefalos beach anchor at the Kos southwest. The long-day Bodrum extension requires the Turkish-Greek customs clearance at the Bodrum cruise port and the Kos main port entry pattern, on the 50-foot-and-up motor and gulet inventory only.

A standard Bodrum day charter (8 hours)

10:30 Southeast cruise to Karaada 45-minute cruise southeast past the Bodrum castle
11:15 Karaada hot-spring tender stop 45-minute tender entry into the sulphur sea cave
12:00 Cruise to Orak island 60-minute cruise southeast to Orak
13:00 Lunch on board at Orak west anchor 105-minute on-board lunch and swim at the turquoise pool
14:45 Orak east snorkel anchor 90-minute swim and snorkel at the east rocky coast
16:15 Cruise to Karaada Buyuk Liman 45-minute slow cruise back northwest
17:00 Karaada Buyuk Liman swim anchor 60-minute final swim at the sheltered north Karaada anchor
18:00 D-Marin Yalikavak or Bodrum Marina return Return to slip

This is the canonical Bodrum 8-hour Karaada and Orak rotation on a 22-metre crewed gulet or 50 to 60 foot motor yacht with 10 to 16 day guests. The structure adjusts for the full-day Black Island and Cleopatra Beach extension (which moves to a 9 to 10 hour day with the Sedir landing-fee pattern), for the Pabuc Burnu and Cokertme Gokova entry (which moves to a 10 to 11 hour day with the Cokertme village lunch and the Yedi Adalari anchor cluster), and for the Greek-island Kos long-day (which moves to a 10 to 12 hour day with the customs clearance at Bodrum cruise port and the Kos town harbour stop).

Bodrum day-charter boat size guidance

24 to 38 foot motorboats and small day gulets. $400 to $1.2K per day, 6 to 12 guests, skipper-included. The budget Bodrum day-charter band; the cleanest fit for the short-day Karaada or west-coast rotation from Bodrum Cruise Port or Gumusluk.

40 to 65 foot day gulets and motor yachts. $1.2K to $3.5K per day, 10 to 16 guests, crew of 2 to 4. The midmarket Bodrum day-charter band; the cleanest fit for the full Karaada and Orak rotation from Bodrum Marina, Yalikavak, or Turgutreis.

65 to 95 foot premium gulets and motor yachts. $3.5K to $7K per day, 12 to 20 guests, crew of 4 to 7, on-board chef on the 70-foot-and-up. The premium midmarket band with the structured Black Island, Pabuc Burnu, and Greek-island Kos extension capacity.

95 to 130 foot superyacht-class gulets and motor yachts. $7K to $14K per day, 12 to 25 guests (day) or 12 overnight, full crew of 6 to 12, tender garage and overnight extension capacity. The extension-charter band for clients combining Bodrum day product with overnight at Pabuc Burnu, Yedi Adalari, or the Gulf of Gokova.

Bodrum day-charter cost math

Line item Range (22-metre crewed gulet, 8-hour Karaada and Orak day, July peak)
Gulet day rate $2.5K to $4.2K
Turkish KDV (18% on charter) $0.45K to $0.76K
Fuel (typical 8-hour day, 35 nautical miles, at-cost) $0.4K to $1K
Crew gratuity (10% to 15% standard in Turkey) $0.25K to $0.63K
Provisioning (lunch, drinks, on-board chef) $0.4K to $1.2K
D-Marin Yalikavak or Bodrum Marina day-stop slip $0.05K to $0.4K
Cleopatra Beach landing (10 guests at $5, if extended) $0.05K
Working full check (8-hour Karaada and Orak day, anchor-only gulet) $4K to $7.4K
Working full check (10-hour Black Island day, premium gulet) $5K to $9K
Working full check (11-hour Greek-island Kos day, motor 65-foot, customs) $9K to $14K
Peak August premium (1.3x to 1.5x rate) $5.5K to $11K

The Bodrum day-charter cost runs at the bottom of the East Mediterranean midmarket day-charter band on a per-day basis, with a substantial discount versus Mykonos, Saint-Tropez, or Capri given the competitive Turkish gulet supply, the lower marina cost, and the 18% Turkish KDV (which still runs the European-comparable tax line). The cost-control move is the April, May, or post-15 September booking at 50 to 70 percent of August peak, the Bodrum Marina or Turgutreis departure (which substitutes the D-Marin Yalikavak premium with the Bodrum town or Turgutreis pricing), and the gulet booking at the Turkish gulet-fleet pricing (which runs $1K to $2K per day below the motor-yacht equivalent).

Operator ranking (the day-charter inventory)

We rank rather than list. The Bodrum day-charter operator inventory we would book runs at the following band:

Ekol Yachting and Aegean Yacht Services (D-Marin Yalikavak). Holds the operator-direct 22 to 50 metre premium gulet and 50 to 130 foot motor-yacht inventory at D-Marin Yalikavak with the Sunseeker, Princess, Azimut, Sanlorenzo, and Ferretti motor pool plus the flagship Turkish gulet builder inventory (Ada Yacht Works, Aegean Yacht, Bilgin Yacht). Working operator-direct booking, Turkish charter licensing, on-board chef capability at the 22-metre-and-up gulet and 60-foot-and-up motor, Greek-island Kos customs coordination, and the full-week blue-cruise extension from the day-charter base. The cleanest single operator-direct booking pattern at the working $3K-and-up Bodrum day-charter band.

Borda Yachting and Setur Yachting (Bodrum Marina). Holds the operator-direct 18 to 35 metre gulet and 40 to 100 foot motor inventory at Milta Bodrum Marina with the Turkish midmarket gulet pool. The cleanest fit for clients staying at the Bodrum town hotel cluster and the Karaada and Orak rotation walk-on pickup.

Bodrum Yacht Charter and Sail Bodrum (Cruise Port and Yalikavak). Holds the operator-direct 20 to 45 metre premium gulet inventory at Yalikavak and Bodrum cruise port with the Aegean blue-cruise extension capacity. Working full-crew booking and full-week extension capability.

Click and Boat Bodrum, SamBoat Bodrum, and Boatsetter Bodrum. Holds the aggregator inventory at the Yalikavak, Bodrum Marina, Cruise Port, Turgutreis, and Gumusluk bases with the 24 to 65 foot motor and day-gulet inventory across the budget and midmarket bands. Working aggregator interface, insurance, and captain-included pattern at the 30-foot-and-up.

Goolets Bodrum and Yacht-Master Bodrum. Holds the aggregator gulet inventory across the Turkish coast with the Bodrum, Marmaris, Gocek, and Fethiye bases. The alternative gulet aggregator interface for clients comparing Turkish gulet inventory across multiple bases.

We rank Ekol Yachting and Aegean Yacht Services at the top of the Bodrum day-charter operator inventory because the D-Marin Yalikavak premium-band booking pattern requires the operator-specific marina-relationship knowledge, the Greek-island Kos extension requires the operator-specific Turkish-Greek customs clearance interface, and the premium gulet inventory at the 22-metre-and-up requires the operator-specific captain-and-chef assignment pattern.

What we would change

The Karaada hot-spring sea-cave at peak July and August runs the 30 to 80-tender morning queue at the sea-cave entry with the organised-gulet-tour tender pattern from the Bodrum cruise port. The cleanest single fix is the pre-11am Karaada window (which lands at the hot-spring entry before the bulk of the organised-tour wave), the post-3pm Karaada window (which clears the noon to 2pm peak), or the Karaada substitution to the Buyuk Liman north-anchor pattern (which substitutes the hot-spring with the sheltered north-Karaada swim anchor).

The Yalikavak Marina at peak July and August runs the megayacht stern-to congestion at the 60-to-130-metre boat pool with the land-based Yalikavak village congestion at peak (the Yalikavak Marina retail and restaurant terrace pattern absorbs the megayacht crew and guest pool plus the Yalikavak village hotel cluster). The cleanest single fix on the day-charter side is the pre-9am Yalikavak quay drop pattern, the Bodrum Marina substitution (which moves the boarding 18 kilometres east to the cleaner Bodrum town quay), or the Turgutreis substitution (which moves the boarding 22 kilometres west to the cleaner Turgutreis bay base).

The Greek-island Kos full-day from Bodrum at peak July and August runs the Turkish-Greek customs clearance at the Bodrum cruise port with the 60 to 120 minute customs queue at peak morning. The cleanest single fix is the pre-9am Bodrum cruise port departure (which clears the customs queue at the 20 to 40 minute early-morning window), the operator-direct booking through Ekol Yachting (which holds the customs-coordination priority interface at the Bodrum cruise port), or the Kos overnight substitution (which substitutes the day-trip with the overnight Kos town stay at the full-clearance pattern at the pre-noon morning entry).

FAQ

Do I need to book a Bodrum day charter in advance? For July and August peak, yes. Book 8 to 14 weeks out for the premium 22-metre-and-up gulet and 65-foot-and-up motor inventory at D-Marin Yalikavak. April, May, and post-15 September open inventory on 1 to 2 week notice at the shoulder rates.

Should I book a gulet or a motor yacht for a Bodrum day? Gulet for the canonical Turkish day product, the larger day-guest capacity (up to 25 on the 30-metre-and-up), the lower per-guest cost, and the slow-cruise pattern at 7 to 10 knots. Motor yacht for the west-coast or Greek-island Kos rotation requiring 22 to 28 knot transit capacity, for the smaller premium day-guest pattern (8 to 12 guests), and for the tender-and-watersports pattern.

Can I day-charter from Bodrum to Greek-island Kos? Yes on the 50-foot-and-up motor and 22-metre-and-up gulet inventory with the Turkish-Greek customs clearance at Bodrum cruise port. The Kos rotation runs 11 to 20 nautical miles each way at the 30 to 90 minute transit. The full-day Kos rotation runs 10 to 12 hours marina-to-marina with a 60 to 120 minute customs clearance window at peak July and August.

What size group fits a Bodrum day charter? 6 to 12 guests on the 24 to 38 foot motorboat band, 10 to 16 on the 40 to 65 foot gulet and motor band, 12 to 20 on the 65 to 95 foot premium gulet band, 12 to 25 on the 95 to 130 foot superyacht-class gulet band (capped at 12 overnight on the Turkish commercial overnight-charter limit). The Bodrum gulet runs the larger day-guest capacity than the equivalent Croatian or Greek motor inventory.
